The Energy Sector Group is comprised of lawyers who represent clients active in the energy industry. Members handle both energy-related transactions and disputes among companies involved in extraction, processing and delivery of energy sources such as coal, oil, gas, and biomass, as well as generation and transmission of electricity using the same fuels and wind, solar, hydro, nuclear and other sources of energy.

Members of the group provide advice to clients on legal matters related to all stages of the development and financing of both renewable energy infrastructure and generation projects and traditional oil and gas, power and infrastructure projects. Members can assist in evaluating facility design and construction arrangements, liaising with government authorities, assessing environmental issues and permitting requirements, developing access infrastructure, managing risk in procurement and off-take transactions (PPAs), maximizing tax incentives, or developing financing structures.

The Energy Group focuses on sharing among the members the capabilities that each firm has in the energy sector and on building relationships among the lawyers who practice in the area. The group has participated in organizing and presenting programs at both the 2006 and 2007 TerraLex Annual General Meetings.
