Indonesia's competition regulator rules on company secrets conspiracy case

Indonesia’s competition regulator, KPPU has imposed a fine of IDR3 billion (approx. US$176,820) on PT Maruka Indonesia (PT MI) for conspiring to obtain trade secrets in violation of Article 23 of the Competition Law. PT MI, together with other reported parties, unlawfully transferred data relating to PT Chiyoda Kogyo Indonesia (PT CKI)’s company secrets, resulting in significant financial loss to PT CKI. Although PT CKI's request for compensation was rejected by KPPU, such claims for compensation are permitted under the Competition Law.
